Event

  1. What time do the gates open?

    The gates to the Boulder Reservoir open at 7:00 AM.

  2. What time does same-day registration open?

    Same-day registration opens at 7:00 AM. The registration tent will be on the main lawn

  3. What forms of payment will be accepted for same-day registration?

    Cash, check, and credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover).

  4. What if I forget my printed event ticket?

    You will still be able to participate and pick up your packet. Just have a photo id. We will have access to the online application and will be able to verify your registration.

  5. Am I allowed to bring my own food to the event?

    The Canine Classic event team does not prohibit bringing in your own food, but does provide donated food to registrants during the race.  McDevitt's Taco stand will also be selling thier delicious food!

  6. If I am coming to watch the event, do I need to pay?

    No; however, if you show up after the race starts at 9:00 AM, then the Boulder Reservoir will charge $5 for parking.

    Please keep in mind that our sponsors and vendors are both donating their services and paying to sponsor this event. If you are going to take part, donations to MESA are appreciated. This event is a major fundraiser for MESA and funds raised go directly to supporting our programs.

  7. What happens with my registration if the event is canceled?

    In the event that the Canine Classic 5k is canceled due to inclement weather, your race fee will not be refunded.

  8. Can I get a refund if I cannot attend the event?

    In the event that you cannot attend the Canine Classic 5k, your race fee will not be refunded.

  9. Can I park closer to the event starting line if I have a medical or physical reason?

    Yes. When you register, mark the "Special parking pass needed" checkbox at the bottom of the order form. If you have already registered and forgot to mark this box, then click on the Contact Us link and send us an email.

  10. Will there be an early packet pickup location?

    Yes. Early packet pickup will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Please see the FAQ > Early Packet Pickup section.

  11. Is a shirt and goody bag included with the registration price?

    Yes, at Early Packet Pick Up only on Saturday, April 23rd from 10am to 2pm at Flatirons Subaru.

  12. I requested a special parking pass during registration. When will the pass be sent to me?

    Special parking passes will be emailed to participants one (1) week prior to the event. You will need to print the document, cut out the pass, and tape the pass to the inside of your front window on the passenger side. With this pass, parking staff will allow you to park in the main lot (next to registration and the start/finish).

  13. Is there a charge for parking?

    There is no charge for parking if you arrive before the race starts (9:00 AM). If you arrive after the race starts, then the Boulder Reservoir will charge $5 per vehicle for parking.

Race/Course

  1. What time does the race start?

    The race starts at 9:00 AM.

  2. Are baby joggers allowed on the course?

    Yes.

  3. Can I wear headphones and listen to music during the race?

    Yes.

  4. Is there an area for people to watch the race?

    Yes, we have an area sectioned off at the start/finish line.

  5. Is the race professionally timed?

    Yes. The race will be professionally timed by Jill and Darrin from Racing Underground.

  6. Is this a chip-timed race?

    Yes. Chips will be embedded inside the race bibs.

  7. Can my time be used as a BolderBOULDER qualifying time?

  8. What is the terrain of the course?

    1.0 miles of pavement (first 0.5 miles of start and last 0.5 miles of finish)

    2.1 miles of dirt

Dogs

  1. I am bringing my dog. Does my dog need to be on a leash?

    Yes. During the race your dog needs to be on a leash; however, in the event area, we do provide a dog run area and a swimming area where your dog can be off the leash.

  2. Do I need to clean-up after my dog on the race course?

    No. During the race, a dog waste vendor is responsible for picking up after the dogs.

    *Note: Dog waste bags, and buckets to place used bags into, will be available on the course. Picking up after your dog(s) during the race and placing the bags into a designated bucket will save the vendor time.

  3. Do I need to clean-up after my dog before/after the race?

    Yes, we will be providing extra waste bags for use in the event area before and after the race.

  4. Are dogs allowed to swim in the reservoir?

    Yes, there is a designated area for dogs to enjoy the water.

  5. What happens if my dog gets injured during the race?

    Unfortunately, there are times when a dog experiences health issues during the race. A veterinarian tech will be on the course at the aid station. In addition, they will have a tech near the start/finish line. All course marshals will also be equipped with radios to contact the nearest tech if you and your dog are between these areas.

  6. Is water provided for the dogs?

    Yes, water troughs will be available for the dogs both on the course and on the main lawn of the reservoir.

Early Packet Pickup

  1. When and where is early packet pickup?

    When: Saturday, April 25, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

    Where: Flatirons Subaru, 5995 Arapahoe Ave., Boulder, CO

  2. What do I need to bring?

    A printed copy of your event ticket.

  3. What if I forget my printed event ticket?

    You will still be able to pick up your packet. Just have a photo id. We will have access to the online application and will be able to verify your registration.

  4. Can I pick up for other people?

    Yes, as long as you have a printed copy of their event ticket.

  5. Activities

    A goody bag will be available at Early Packet Pick Up only. You will receive your racing bib and t-shirt, as well. Enjoy complimentary Kombucha from Upstart Kombucha and goodies and treats from I and Love and You Pet Food. Enjoy a doggy photobooth courtesy of Flatirons Subaru.

  6. What is not included?

    Racers will not receive a goody bag at the race, so the Early Packet Pickup is the only opportunity to receive one.

  7. Online registration closed on Friday at 3:00, can I register during the early packet pickup and still get the regular pricing?

    Yes. Cash, check, and credit cards will be accepted on-site. You will also be able to pick up a bib, pins, and a T-Shirt. Please note that all registrations taking place after 3:00 PM Friday will be subject to the same day registration pricing and can be done at Early Packet Pickup or at the race.
